2002-07-28. Sun spots 39 and 44.

This a single 0.02 second image. I applied a high pass filter a couple of times to bring out the detail,
and then contrast stretched to finish. I used my MX916 in 2x2 binning at prime focus of my LX200, with the
solar filter half covered and a light pollution filter in front of the CCD to reduce the brightness. |

This is an average of 82 images which were 0.02 seconds each. The combined image has a high pass filter applied a couple of times
to bring out the detail, and then contrast stretched to finish. I am not sure what the bright white mark is on the spot
just up and right of center. It is more apparent on the larger image. It is also visible in the above image so it is
probably not a processing artifact. It could be a white light flare? I used the same optical setup as above. |
