Planet Images taken in 2001

These are the first CCD images taken with my 10" f/10 SCT. They are only quickly processed, and I will do some more when I have more time. They were taken with my SX camera with a X2 barlow to give a better image scale. The third image was taken using eyepiece projection with a 9.7mm eyepiece.

Taken on 2001-11-26. Average of 10 images each 0.5 seconds. Linear and contrast stretched.

Taken on 2001-11-26. Average of 5 images each 0.05 seconds. Flat field sub, linear and contrast stretched.

Taken on 2001-11-26. The seeing was very good, which meant I could 'bump' up the magnification. I was not sure if this would come out. I am quite pleased. Average of 3 images each 1 second. Linear and contrast stretched.

The next few images were taken with my new MX916 camera. The seeing was not as good on this occasion, but by averaging lots of images, you can get some detail.

This image of Saturn is an average of 12 images (0.001 seconds each), taken with a X2 barlow on Dec 10th 2001 at 23:02UT. The camera was used in Hi-res fast mode and scaled in the y axis by 200%. The image was then filtered using an un-sharp mask routine.

This image of Jupiter is an average of 11 images (0.001 seconds each), taken with a X3 barlow on Dec 10th 2001 at 23:29UT. The camera was used in Hi-res fast mode and scaled in the y axis by 200%. Ganymede and its shadow can be seen. The image was then filtered using an un-sharp mask routine.

This image of Jupiter is an average of 18 images (0.001 seconds each), taken with a X2 barlow on Dec 10th 2001 at 23:10UT.The camera was using 2x2 binning and then scaled 200%. Ganymede and its shadow can be seen. The image was then filtered using an un-sharp mask routine.
